Ink Cartridges: DVD-R Information

It is not always easy to find the DVD-R information you need. Deciphering the differences between the types of blank DVD media available can be confusing. Doing a little bit a research can help you avoid headaches later on.

DVD-R is a versatile format. It is a write-once disc that you can use to record many types of DVD-R information. You can use it to record video, audio, images, data files, drawings, multimedia presentations or programs.

More Space for DVD-R Information
DVD-Rs have more recordable space than CD-Rs. The extra space comes from the smaller track pitch and the smaller data marks. The different hardware specifications allow for the extra storage. But this also means that an external CD burner cannot be used to write DVD-R media.

If you are trying to figure out recording speed you need to consult your DVD drive specifications. The speed of your DVD burner is what establishes recording speed. The blank DVD media you use does not determine speed.
